THE INSPIRATION - “Flappy” the rescued red-tailed black cockatoo from NSW returns as the subject of REK’s final major artwork for 2019.REK continues to explore realistic colouration and ultra fine details, refining individual feathers and using light and shade techniques compared to his deconstructed wildlife series.REK uses a stark white backdrop and the off-centred subject leaves a negative space component in this composition, a new technique for the artist.The spellbound Flappy gazes into the distance, there is nothing in the landscape but open space. REK poses the question – is this the reality faced by wildlife in the future?
 
THE PROCESS - All REK limited production prints are laser scanned and reproduced with genuine Epson inks. Then professionally printed onto artist grade 440gsm archival canvas from Breathing Colour in the United States. *Uk Fine Art Guild Certified.
